JOINT PAIN
THE DIS-EASE
Joint pain can be due to arthritis, either rheumatoid or osteoarthritis, A chronic disease in which cartilage degeneration leads to joint pain and stuffiness. Osteoarthritis is due
to wearing away of the cartilage between the bones at a joint. Rheumatoid arthritis is due to an inflammatory reaction when your antibodies attack your cartilage.
By the age of 40 arthritic changes of the joints can be seen on X-rays. Glucosamine/Chondroitin should be taken daily to prevent cartilage degeneration and joint pain, as we age. If we live long enough, everyone will have some cartilage degeneration. Glucosamine/Chondroitin can help prevent cartilage degeneration.
Belgian scientists studied 212 people with knee arthritis. Half took Glucosamine the other half took a placebo. At the end of 3 years, the joint space of the placebo group
narrowed significantly, and their symptoms worsened. The Glucosamine group’s joint space remained stable and their symptoms improved.
Glucosamine 1500 mg a day and Chondroitin 1200 mg a day
Rebuilds cartilage in the joints and reduces knee and joint pain. The rebuilding takes about 4 to 6 months, but can take as long as 14 months. After you have rebuilt the cartilage and are pain free, you can try decreasing the dosage to a maintenance dose of 1 to 3 tablets or capsules for life. This is so the condition does not reappear.
Chondroitin possesses a small amount of anticoagulation activity. If you are taking anticoagulation medication you might wish to check with your doctor. Chondroitin is derived from shellfish, if you are allergic to shellfish you might also be allergic to Chondroitin.
