VITAMINS AND MINERALS FOR ASTHMA

Asthma is a condition of inflammation of the bronchial tree. When the bronchi become inflamed the passageways become smaller and it is more difficult to get air into the lungs.
Prescription medication consists of a few different types.

Anti-inflammatories:  inhaled corticosteriods or cromolyn or nedocromil.
Bronchodilators:  inhaled short acting vasodilators (Proventil nasal spray).
                                Longer acting tablets (Theophylline)

When starting the vitamin regime continue to use your medication. In time you should be using your bronchodilators less and less.

A few people get a reaction to bee pollen. Start with 1 a day and increase it to the recommended dose, if there are no reactions.

When you take the above regime and it controls your asthma well but you want to try more control you can add more magnesium.

Magnesium: 1000 mg to 1500 mg   Adult dose.  Children average 5 mg./lb.
Subtract the dose of magnesium in  the Calcium-Magnesium tablets ( 3 Calcium-Magnesium tablets a day usually contain 750 mg. of magnesium)

The total adult dose should be no more than 1500 mg of magnesium a day.
Magnesium has some laxative action for some people.  If you find it has a laxative
action for you, then do not take magnesium once a day. Take magnesium in divided doses three or more times a day.
